Patroler: “Central, I need a backboard, O2 and a couple of strong backs on the lower side of Big Air. Start ALS on their way.”

Central: “Roger. ALS, backboard and O2. Be there in 5, anything else?”

Patroler: “Yea. Throw in the traction splint, it looks like his Femur didn’t like the landing all that much either….”

See, this is why I’m a ski patroler. I get to see stuff like this first hand…. OK, maybe not all of it, but I want to.

Tripple Back Flip on Skis

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I broke my neck doing a single back flip when I was 17. I used to do arials, but I did them wearing 195’s. The time I broke my neck, I was wearing my 170 rock skis because I was just messing around in the woods. What happened was that when I went off the jump, I flipped too fast because of the shorter skis, and hit the back of my head on the top of the jump. (They found me wandering around in the woods 4 hours later and I didn’t know my name….. kind explains quite a lot if you know me now.)

Best Ski Patrol Training Film Ever!

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

OK, this is a little gross, but it’s the funniest dang thing I’ve seen in weeks. If you are thinking about joining the ski patrol you need to watch this training film first.

Fast Forward at least a minute to get past the anti steroid commercial and the intro stuff…
